Ideally they would have artistic ability or the potential to develop it, which many people down on their luck often find themself with a lot of time if absolutely everything is taken from you like in my case not even an electronic nor birth certificate to my name other than said colored pencils. So first I give them a set of colored pencils, notebook, sharpener. I tell them that I will buy in bulk their art. So I will. And display it at my apartment so that when people ask to see my art and I show it to them I can try to sell them my new friend's art. If I sell anything then I can go give all of the money to my friend. I was inspired after the lead singer of the Black Pumas approached me one night I was at the Liberty and no one would talk to me because I smelled bad and looked odd but he approached me and talked with me. I told him that I liked to paint and showed him some of my art and he bought some which I was able to use to help me out tremendously when I was rebuilding my life. So that inspired why I would gift these colored pencils. Actually the original colored pencils were gifted to me by Chris who is no longer with us, but when I had absolutely nothing I turned the anger and hatred I had for the people who had robbed and taken everything from me. I was furious. I had nothing to do. I was transported in time to before electronics having absolutely nothing to my name. So I just drew all day. I drew out my stress and angry and sold the drawings. With that money I bought a phone which I did surveys on till I had enough for a chromebook which I did data annotation on until I bought a macbook to do programming on. That path towards acquiring technology which allowed me to trade my time and labor into money allowed me to rebuild my life. So that is what the software I am developing is meant to help with. What I want to do is gamify as much of the process as possible and automate a lot of it like setting up individual art sites for each of the mentees with paypal linked allowing them to simply have a debit card with the funds they create from their art. I know how to monetize content like art. People pay through the nose to do that for their art gallery but instead I want to help out just random folk down on their luck. This software is meant to automate a lot of that and gamify elements of it. I am making it free and open source with hopes that other people will adapt it to their use cases as well or spread the concept to help form new art galleries. Art galleries composed of the art from people whose time and labor do not have many avenues to returning an income from their utilization. Thus rather than be a sink for money launderers I want to inspire art galleries which actually accomplish some public good. I think that encouraging using one's own excess capital from living below your means to be invested in those around you and those whose lives are not as comfortable or fortunate as our own. Imagine these art galleries popping up which are simply composed of the art of individuals who go on walks once a week and hand out art mediums to the less fortunate taking their art to be displayed in their homes or galleries of their own. The whole idea is to create a story at least of people helping each other out by building a bridge from one world to another. From those doing better to those not doing as well. From left to right.
