He said he could program to it better and focus on his work rather than pay attention to lyrics. He took the Russian idea to heart though. Appearance is often reality and seldom true. The place he lived was not that bad it was just that it was population dense. Density of housing was strictly regulated in the city. It was a very segregated city and still is in a lot of ways. On the east side of the city was where all the minorities and rejects were sent and on the west side the cost of living and housing regulations kept that side of the city white or sometimes wealthy minorities. So the east side was much more dense where he lived. Filov was not a minority but he was definitely a reject. How do you know you are a reject? There are easy ways to tell. One way is to show your true self to people and then for them to say “no no no, that is just all wrong”. So of course he was an artist at one point. It is always the rejected artists that cause problems in society. I’m sorry, but you can not live a wealthy life finger painting all day, just grow up. Filov spent ten years painting a large mural on canvas. He wanted to tell the story of the world he lived in. He thought it was a good painting, one that transcended the mundane. No one liked his painting. After the events that led Filov to go on the run he found that painting to be an onus he would carry with him. How could he abandon what he had spent so much time on? That was not why he was a reject though. Filov had another problem. Filov was a reserved and quiet type but once he had a few drinks he would spill his whole mind and become rowdy. When you add some weed into the mix he would black out and do the craziest things. He thought everyone enjoyed his antics but in reality he made everyone uncomfortable and worried. He started getting kicked out of bars. So then he would have to drink with his friends or at parties. What happened to his friends? After puking and requiring some sleep to get back to consciousness at a particular party his friends started to see him more and more as a liability rather than an asset. So where do you go to drink if you don’t have friends and bars won’t take you? Ostracized from his friends and the public at large he became a recluse in a beat down apartment complex that catered to those on the edge of homelessness. He found that crowd to be a lot more accepting of his flaws. From the world he came from everyone knew everything about computer science and any other topic he knew so he was not that special. In this world though of the impoverished and uneducated he was special.
